You guys. I have a one-year old. How did this happen? Where did the time go? These last few months have been crazy busy with client meetings and photography shoots – plus we moved to another city, which easily explains why it took me two whole months to edit the photos from Jones’ birthday party. But… in reality, this is only a partial excuse. The real reason why it’s taken two months is that I’m basically living in denial. My baby is looking less and less like an actual baby these days and he has fully embraced his stance as a toddler in the world. Sigh.
Hard motherhood lesson learned: Denial doesn’t hide the truth!
Jones is seriously the best though, and having a one-year old is actually a lot of fun! He is sweet, silly, and extremely social – plus he is walking all over the place and getting into everything. I repeat, everything. My poor fiddle leaf fig barely has any dirt in her pot because Jones’ favorite game is to scoop it all out the second I’m not paying attention! I’m sure my fellow mamas can relate.
Baby Jones is 1 Year Old!
It goes without saying that Jones has made our lives infinitely better and has shown my husband and I what it truly means to be intentional and present. Watching him learn, grow and experience this great big world for the first time, makes everything new again for us, too.
Being a mom has been the biggest blessing of my life. It’s changed me in a million ways, forced me to prioritize (who knew being totally selfless could be the best change of pace) and opened my heart to a kind of love I didn’t know was possible. To say I am thankful would be a massive understatement!
We’ve survived the first year – all three of us. The unknowns, the long days and the even longer nights. This next chapter won’t be an easy one, from what I hear, but it will surely be a sweet one. Plus, my feet are firmly planted in my new role as “mom” and I’m ready – so bring it on, toddlerhood!
