If there is one thing that I know and love, its food! I’m a sucker for a good meal and I have a sweet tooth that would rival Willy Wonka himself! I also eat out quite often and in the years since I moved to Orange County I have taken eating to a whole new level! I can get ANY type of food within an hours drive (usually less than 20 mins) and this is both wonderful and dangerous (to your waistline)! I’ve put together my list of the best grub around, some places you might know of while others are small “hole in the wall” types that keep me coming back again and again!
Joe’s Sushi, Huntington Beach– By FAR the best sushi around and get this, it’s all you can eat AND made to order! Don’t let the strip mall fool you because this places has some seriously amazing food! Be sure to try the baked muscles, it’s like heaven in a shell! ;)
The Counter, Irvine– If you like burgers (veggie included) this places should be put on your list! The “build your own burger” concept allows YOU to create the perfect burger and choose from an extensive list of mouth-watering ingredients! My personal favorite is the veggie burger with grilled pineapple and BBQ sause, but the possibilities are endless and they have an extensive bar, which is always a plus in my book!
Cafe Anastasia, Laguna Beach– I was recently introduced to this lovely cafe and boutique by my sister and its quickly risen to my new favorite breakfast place! The atmosphere is very nice and your only a few blocks from Main Beach so its the perfect way to start your day in Laguna! The Fishermans Feast is my favorite and this decadent dish is more than worth the drive!
Roma D’Italia, Tustin– When I’m craving Italian food this the my trusted place. Authentic food, full of flavor and their marinara is by far my favorite. Try their spinach ravioli alfredo it’s a refreshing change to standard ravioli.
Kaju Soft Tofu, Irvine- This is one of the first places I ate at after giving up meat (except fish) and I still come back time and time again! Each dish comes with lots of yummy and interesting side dishes, the pickles are to die for! Each soft tofu dish comes in a hot pot (kind of like a soup) and then you crack a raw egg into the dish and let the heat cook it and then spoon it on to rice. Sounds a little strange at first but it really quite good, especially if your a big fan of tofu. They also have a good variety of Korean BBQ, for the meat eaters in the group.
These are only a few from my long list of yummy grub in OC. I’d LOVE to hear some new restaurant suggestions to try! Whatcha got?
