Capturing a couple’s engagement session and then their wedding day is one of my favorite parts of my job. It’s like being invited along on their timeline of life. When I get to follow that timeline all the way into parenthood – my heart just swells in a big way!
Being a parent myself, I can empathize and relate with my maternity session clients on so many levels. Maybe it’s because I know what a monumental transformation they are going through. I know the feelings of uncertainty, excitement, and at times, downright fear. Becoming a parent is a journey of self-discovery, and the fact that so many of my couples allow me into this season of life is sacred to me.
Calafia State Beach Maternity Photos
If you’ve followed my blog for a bit, you’ll probably recognize Emerald and Nathan. I still think of their stunning Villa San Juan Capistrano wedding with the fondest memories. Honestly, Emerald wore one of the most devastatingly gorgeous gowns I’ve had the opportunity to photograph. Naturally, I was thrilled to hear they were pregnant, and I’m even more excited to get to document the next year of their life with my Babies First Year Collection!
For their maternity session, I finally got to explore more of Calafia State Beach and, let me tell you, this is one of my new favorite locations! I love the natural dunes and the endless sandy shoreline. Emerald’s vibrant romper really popped and her baby bump was the perfect accessory. Nathan – you looked great, too and very much like a proud dad-to-be!
I’m so excited that I’ll get the chance to see this sweet almost-family-of-three several times over the next year. Their babe is set to arrive in just a few shorts months, so you’ll definitely want to stay tuned on the blog for more!
