CrossFit Irvine: Sports Photography

May 27, 2010 | Personal

I’ve been photographing CrossFit Irvine for a few years now and I’ve watched them progress from a car garage to a 2,000 square facility equipped for every workout need! Observing their transformation has been both exciting and humbling at the same time. Owner and head trainer Robert van der Heyden is the mastermind behind CFI and has made his dreams into a reality in only a few years. His dedication and commitment to helping others reach their fitness goals is admirable and the community forming behind him is growing quickly in numbers and in strength!

If you’ve never heard of CrossFit its basically a strength and conditioning program built on constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity. It was developed to prepare individuals to face all physical tasks with their highest level of performance. CrossFit started in Santa Cruz and is now an international fitness program with over 1000 affiliates worldwide. Their workouts are intense and extremely effective, I’ve personally seen the results in many friends and family members!

So to mix things up from the usual wedding and portrait photographs here are a few of my favorites from my visit during last weeks workout.

Blood, sweat, and tears, well mostly sweat… LOTS OF SWEAT!

The calloused hands of CFI trainee after another hard workout.

Owner and trainer himself, Robert van der Heyden, outside his gym after an evening workout.

It’s been so great to see CrossFit Irvine grow in such a short amount of time, Robert I can’t wait to see what the future holds in store for you and CFI! Keep up the great work!
