At the end of each calendar year, I’m left with thousands of gorgeous wedding photos to look at. It’s really hard to choose my favorites but, as you can see by the images below, what really pulls at my heartstrings is not the perfectly lit and staged poses. What truly gets me is all the super genuine moments that couples can’t plan for (and photographers can direct). The moments that are full of emotion and happen naturally throughout a wedding day are the ones that keep me rooted firmly in this profession.
Favorite 2019 Wedding Moments
There was no shortage of [happy] tears during Katie and Jenna’s wedding – especially from Jenna (which she still jokes about on Instagram). Katie and Jenna’s day centered around love and devotion and was full of the sweetest memories.
What I will always remember about this wedding was the first look. I wish more couples would do this, and Natalie and Gary really knew how to make this time more meaningful. During their first look they took time to share gifts with each other, as well as personal vows.
There is nothing better than stealing a private moment with your new groom or bride on your wedding day. This photo is of Jessica and Charles’s second kiss as husband and wife and was a very touching moment to photograph.
You know I’m a big advocate of a first look between a couple on their wedding day – but let me tell you – a first look between a bride and her father will leave you weepy with love. Ashley’s moment with her dad was one of the sweetest father-daughter “first look” moments I’ve ever experienced.
Jackie and Matt literally floated throughout their wedding day with nothing but joy and excitement. I love photographing this venue, as it’s where my husband and I tied the knot, so it brings back so many feels!
Is there anything sweeter than seeing a groom turn emotional at the sight of his bride walking down the aisle? I think not! Brian’s reaction when seeing Vivian walking toward him, arm-in-arm with her parents, was my absolute favorite part of their day.
I’m not lying when I say I’m obsessed with first looks? This photo isn’t staged at all – and I just love the way Marie held Vince from behind for a few moments before he turned to see his beautiful bride. This was also such a tender and important moment together before the fun madness of the wedding festivities kicked off!
Here’s are two things that are true. 1) You can’t manufacture romance. 2) No one wants rain on their wedding day. However, the unwelcomed rain on Jenna and David’s big day really created a stunning and romantic portrait session in the Los Angeles Arboretum!
This wedding had a moment so special, it had me thinking about it for weeks after the day was over. During the ceremony, they played a recording of Donna’s late mother singing Ave Maria – and there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. This day was truly one full of big emotions – and at the top of the list, love, dedication, and joy.
2019, you were so so good to me and my couples. I cannot wait to see what 2020 brings and I look forward to many more special moments with each of my couples getting married next year!
