Balance has always been a struggle for me, and I’m not talking about standing on one foot, I’m referring to living a balanced life. One where I take care of all my responsibilities without sacrificing other areas of my life. I am the poster child for unbalance and lately the effects of this lifestyle have become all to clear to me! I work late into the night, never get enough sleep, take on too many projects and to top it off I neglect my health and happiness! I’m not posting this to complain about my own life choices but to serve as a reminder to myself that life it much too short to not enjoy!
I’m not sure if I will ever live a truly balanced life, but I figure that if I never try, I’ll never know! My first baby step is to restart my yoga practice, something I’ve done for years, but that recently has been shelved. I thought that one hour of yoga wasn’t making an impact in my life… that was until I stopped doing it! As I laid in class last night, I could feel the tension and stress of my life melt away and if I get nothing more, it was worth it!
It’s easy to say: I’m too busy to ________. What takes real strength is to put yourself first, to do what you know is best for you! Whether its yoga, reading, walking, or taking a bubble bath, take the time to recharge and recuperate. You’ll be amazed with the results!
