The wedding industry is filled with so many talented professionals, with beautiful portfolios, and plenty of experience. So what separates the good from the great? In my opinion it boils down to customer experience, their overall style, and the ability to create something special and unique for each wedding. Florals by Jenny has all that, and so much more! I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on several weddings and shoots and her work is flawless. Regardless of budget or style, her florals are always the star of the wedding and showcase the overall look.
I’m thrilled to have Jenny share more about her business, style and approach with us today in the following Q&A interview. I think you will quickly see why she is one of my favorite florists, and a complete sweetheart!
How would you describe your artistic style?
I think I have a broad artistic style. I really enjoy weddings because every bride is unique and has her own style. I design arrangements ranging from rustic, contemporary, classic, romantic, and glamorous with a little bling :)
What inspires you?
Just going to the flower mart and seeing all the flowers and vibrant colors is a great inspiration. There are new flowers coming in every week and certain flowers during their prime season can be amazing.
I also try and follow as many florists and wedding blogs on social media. I love seeing other peoples work…it is definitely an inspiration and gets you thinking of new and creative ideas.
What do you love about weddings?
I love how every bride and groom have their own unique style and every wedding is different. It never gets boring because with every wedding I get to create a new look with different colors, varieties of flowers, and themes.
What are the most important factors couples should consider when choosing a florist?
I think couples should look for a knowledgeable florist that will know what flowers will be in season and available during their wedding. It took many years of doing weddings to know the seasons of most of the flowers. There are times that certain flowers are in season and for some reason they are still not available because of the growers. But I try and give my bride enough notice if this does happen and I always provide a suitable substitute.
Also, I think couples should look for a florist that will give a lot of personal attention and not overbook weddings on the same day. The couple will feel a lot more confident if they know that their florist is just focused on their wedding that day.
What sets you apart from others in your field?
I try and give my brides a very personal experience by being at all the consultations and I personally pick out the flowers at the mart and arrange the majority of the flowers. I have helpers, but I am doing most of the hands on work and arranging.
My business is family run and me and my husband are always the ones to be making, delivering, and setting up the wedding. We only book one wedding per date so that we can guarantee a personal experience for the bride and groom.
What advice do you have for newly engaged couples?
Venues and vendors book up so quickly! I would recommend trying to book your venue as soon as possible and then booking the main vendors like photographer, florist, and DJ right after. I have so many brides that have trouble with finding vendors because dates book up so quickly.
Also, make sure to relax and try enjoy everything on your actual wedding day. Usually there may be a few minor things that go wrong, but it’s best not to stress over it and just look at the big picture. The actual wedding day goes by so fast and it’s best just to try and sit back and enjoy it!
