How to Rock your Getting Ready Photos

May 15, 2014 | Tips & Tricks

You’ve picked the dress, venue, cake, florals, and every little detail in between to create your dream wedding. But what about your getting ready photos? This commonly overlooked portion of your day is just as important as those wedding party photos, and with these tips you’ll be sure to start your wedding day off on the right foot.

Organize Your Accessories

Have all your accessories set aside and ready to photograph. This includes your jewelry, shoes, guarder, veil, and anything else you are planning on wearing. Please remove any price tags or packaging from these items so they are ready to grab and go.

Bring the Bling

I prefer to photograph your rings during getting ready, so if possible have all wedding bands with you while your getting ready. This includes your engagement ring, and both wedding bands.

Hang your dress on a nice hanger, no cheap plastic allowed!

Consider having a custom hanger made if you really want to add something special. How fantastic would this gold hanger be for your wedding? If I could do it all over again, this hanger would be a must!

Keep it clean

No one likes a messy room, so while your getting ready try to keep the clutter to a minimum. If every surface is covered with clothes, leftovers from lunch, and makeup these will show in the background of your photos.

Comfy + Cute

If you’re looking for a fun, functional bridesmaid gift, considering picking up one of these lovely robes from Plum Pretty Sugar. Not only will you all look adorable while getting ready, your ladies will have the perfect keepsake.

Don’t Forget the Invite

This is a great time to get a few styled photographs of your invitations. So you’ll want to bring a copy along with the envelope, rsvp cards, and any additional pieces.

Most importantly, while your getting ready don’t forget to have some fun! I’m a big fan of Champagne toasts, cheese platters and dance music. Whatever makes you happy be sure to bring it to help set the mood for your wedding day.
