Most of the time, I feel like I’m being pulled in a million different directions. Never enough hours in the day and my to do list grows with each passing minute. I’ve always had the misconception that life had to be like this, in order to be successful, you have to be crazy busy all the time. Right?
Well not exactly. As I’m sure everyone has experienced, this way of thinking leads to burn out, quickly! Lately, I’ve been trying to re-prioritize my life making it not only less stressful but more enjoyable and productive! For me this means spending less time in front of my computer and making time for ME!
I’ve been getting back into running, slowly making my way through my neglected book list, and making time for my loved ones. I’ve especially noticed that whenever I take time for myself during the week, I’m much more productive after the break! This is a new concept for me and I came across a fantastic article by Jack Cheng that works nicely with this method of thinking. Its a quick little article but really interesting and useful regardless what you do! Check it out HERE.
I’m also in the middle of reading Donald Miller’s A Million Miles in a Thousand Years which is an engaging book about living a better life by essentially writing a better story. I love Miller’s honesty and candor and each page really leaves you with a lot of think about. His straightforward life lesson’s are almost to simple that we miss them the first time around, but extremely intriguing! If your looking for an easy read that will make you think a little differently about time, I’d highly recommend this book!
So what works for you? What makes the craziness of life a little more manageable and keeps you focused? It’s always a work in progress but I think the important part is to never stop trying!
Happy early 4th of July and take some YOU time over the weekend! :)
