Tell us a little bit about how you got started in weddings?
Pure Lavish started because of a passion for helping others. The founder, Carrie, went to school to become an English teacher and during that time worked for a special events company. She fell in love with the industry and decided to graduate with her BA in English but continue down the path of event planning because that’s what really made her tick!
How would you describe your artistic style?
Artistic style… anything clean and fresh. Pretty plain jane which I think serves as a bonus because when clients come with their design ideas I’m able to adapt to their style and look.
What inspires you?
People that are focused on what they want and do everything to achieve that goal is inspiring. I like to look at other professionals who went away from what others thought they should do and instead did what they knew they should do in their career. I believe people that follow their passion are the best and most efficient at their work.
What do you love about weddings?
What don’t I love is the question! Everything from meeting a freshly engaged couple and hearing their story right down to looking at the groom when he first sees his future wife walk down the aisle. The sense of love and “awe” of one another is so rewarding. I want to do everything in my power to ensure their day is exactly how they always dreamed it would be.
What are the most important factors couples should consider when choosing a planner?
I would say there’s three. One, personality. You want to make sure you click with your planner. Two, credibility. Talk to their past clients, ask for portfolios of their work. Three, punctuality/thoroughness. Both go hand in hand, I believe planners should be able to get back to clients within 24 hours, even if that means saying, “got your email, I’ll get right back to you.” Planners need to keep their clients informed. It’s a planners job to make sure their client(s) isn’t stressed at all during the process. Thoroughness because there are SO many details in planning a wedding, you need to make sure when interviewing your planner that you notice them taking notes, asking questions about YOU not just telling you about themselves.
What sets you apart from others in your field?
I would say passion and drive. To see a smile on our clients faces is the biggest satisfaction. When meeting a couple we don’t look at them as another cookie cutter couple. We want to get to know them, their friends and their family. We want to ease any anxiousness and let them know we are here forthem, not just execute their big day and move on.
What advice do you have for newly engaged couples?
When you first get engaged, STOP! Breathe, enjoy the next few days of sharing your excitement with each other and others around you. Soak it all up, focus on the LOVE you have for one another, not the planning and all the details. Also, others around you are going to have opinions, just remember it’s YOUR day, make it ALL about the both of you. It maybe hard, but don’t let outside influences change any decisions the both of you have about your special day.
