I’m a big believer in the idea that weddings should be a total reflection of the couple getting married. As a photographer, I often have the inside scoop during the planning process and (unfortunately) witness my clients experiencing so much stress. This stress often stems from trying to make other people happy. So, when I meet a couple who really embraces the idea that their wedding is about them and their love I basically want to shout “hallelujah!” from the nearest mountain top. Erin and Mike are the best example of this that I can remember and the photos of their Serenity Oaks Ranch wedding will prove it.
Their wedding was all about what they loved: Disney, Star Wars, Back to the Future, and WWE. You might be thinking…”Say what now?! How can this all come together to produce a beautiful wedding?” I have to admit. I thought the same thing initially. But Erin and Mike stuck true to planning the wedding of their dreams and what resulted was a beautiful ranch wedding with fun, playful touches (like a light saber bouquet).

I met Erin and Mike a few years ago through a mutual friend, and one of the things that struck me about them was how comfortable they were with each other. They just “get” each other in the best possible ways. There is an ease about them when they are together, and I know this will serve them well as husband and wife.
I have to say, they might win the award for “most understanding wedding couple” I’ve ever worked with. About ten minutes before we were set to start photographing the day, I ripped the front of my dress!
Ripped. It. Wide. Open.
We were at least thirty minutes from the nearest clothing store, which meant I had to improvise and purchase a bright blue Hawaiian apron from the local “Country Store”. I wrapped it around my waist and carried on with my photography duties, but this will most definitely go down as my most embarrassing moment ever. And, trust me, there have been many.
Neither Erin or Mike were fazed by my mishap and showed much mercy on this pregnant photographer. I absolutely loved working with them and my love was solidified because they didn’t spend their entire day laughing at me as I followed them around their Serenity Oaks Ranch wedding in a bright blue Hawaiian apron.
