One of my fondest memories growing up was walks with my father. We would start right after sunset, just the two of us, when the sky was calm and milky with color. Walking down the empty road the cool air and faint sound of rebidding frogs was our only company. We’d pick a spot far enough away from our neighbors lights and open enough to see the unblocked sky. Then we would wait, eye’s glued to the heavens. One by one, they would appear, and we would count… one… two… three… At first, it would take a few minutes, steadily increasing, until suddenly you saw it!
Not one star, or a few, but the entire night sky filled with thousands of glimmering stars. Losing count we’d marvel at what lay above us, nothing and everything all rolled into one! No matter how many times we’d do this, it always seemed to happen so quickly. As if all of a sudden every little light turned on at once, it was magical!
Our daily life can be a lot like star gazing, you become so busy with the counting that you miss the beauty of the entire night sky.
Take a moment and let yourself marvel at something! Happy Monday!
